Our apartment is located in the Villa di Fornacelle, a stately 17th century residence in the hills near Siena. The villa has a small woods and formal garden. Located 5 km from the center of Siena (10-15 minutes by car and 20 by bus), it looks on to the pilgrim route of Via Francigena ( the ancient Roman road known as the Cassia). It is 40 minutes from Florence by car, 60 minutes to the seaside, 20 to the Chianti hills, 25 to San Gimignano, and 60 to Pienza and Montalcino.

It is a seven-minute walk to the bus stop: every half hour there is a bus to the center of Siena, either line n. 4 e 11 .

The apartment is on the ground floor of the Villa. Every room has full-length windows that open on to the garden and have views of the sienese hills dotted with villas and castles. There is plenty of parking on site.

What we offer

One room (private bath) with double bed for 80 euro per one night, 130 for two nights, 180 for three nights and, for longer stays, 55 euro per night.Usually the room from 17pm to 11am.

A free bed for a child up to three years old is available. There is also the option of an adjacent room with a bunk bed for an additional 30 euro (40 for the use of both beds).

Included in the price is a full breakfast milk, coffee, orange juice, bread, butter, jam, and boiled eggs.

For an extra fee it is possible to arrange to have other meals, lunch or dinner, with your hosts (typical Tuscan cuisine).

How to get here

Coming from the north (superstrada Firenze-Siena): get off at Monteriggioni and proceed toward Siena; after 8 km (or about 8 minutes), go past the turn off on the right for “Santa Colomba, Fungaia, Sovicille”; after 500 meters on the left you’ll see a lane lined with Roman pines (there is a small brown sign indicating: “Villa Fornacelle, n.8-22”, this takes you to a large gravel-covered parking lot: on the right there is an open gateway labelled “22” which is the private entry to the apartment.

Arriving from the south (on the feeder to Autosole-Siena or the superstrada Grosseto-Siena): take the “Tangenziale” in the direction of Firenze and get off at “Acquacalda”; at the first round-about proceed in the direction “Firenze”; at the second round-about veer left in the direction of Firenze “S.S.2, Cassia, Monteriggioni”; after 3 km on the right you will see a large villa somewhat hidden by the trees of its park; keep going until, after two large curves, on your right you will see a lanelined with Roman pines (there is a small sign indicating: “Villa Fornacelle, n.8-22”), this takes you to a large gravel-covered parking lot: on the right there is an open gateway labelled “22” which is the private entry to the apartment.

With a supplement of 5 euro for every trip, if you want, we will pick you up or take you to the Siena train or bus station.
